In-room directory
A digital in-room directory guests can ask questions
A hotel compendium or in-room directory tells guests about breakfast, Wi-Fi, the spa and the area. Una turns it into a conversation: guests scan a QR code in the room and ask, by chat or voice, in their own language.
What an in-room directory is
An in-room directory, also called a hotel compendium, guest information book or guest directory, collects everything a guest needs during the stay: services and opening hours, Wi-Fi, room features, house rules, dining, the spa, transport and local tips. It used to be a binder on the desk; today it is often a web page, a TV channel or an app.
Formats compared
| Format | Guest finds the answer | Updates |
|---|---|---|
| Printed binder | by reading the right page | reprint |
| Web page or app | by searching or browsing | edit online |
| TV channel | by browsing on screen | depends on the TV system |
| Una by QR code | by asking, in their language | edit the property information |
From a directory to a conversation
A directory works when the guest finds the right page. Una answers the question directly, from the same information, and takes the next step when there is one: a booking link for an extra night, a request for towels, a hand-off to the team.

How it works
- A QR code in every room. In the Una dashboard, Deploy & Share gives you a ready-to-print PDF with your company name and the QR code, and a direct link to the chat.
- Chat or voice. The QR code opens Una in full screen; guests type or talk.
- Your information. Una answers from the property information you give, the same content as your compendium.
- The guest's language. Guests ask in their language and get the answer in it.
- Requests become tasks. Towels, a repair, a late check-out request go to the right person on your team.
May I ask what time breakfast starts tomorrow?
Breakfast starts tomorrow at 8:00 and runs until 10:30.
What to put in the directory
- Wi-Fi network and password
- Breakfast, restaurant and bar hours
- Check-out time and late check-out rules
- Parking, transfers and taxis
- Spa, gym and pool hours and booking rules
- Housekeeping and laundry
- Nearby: pharmacy, supermarket, sights, transport
- Emergency contacts and how to reach the team at night
